What do you do when you lock yourself out? Head to the local bar.
Yesterday was my day off and I decided to go grocery shopping and buy myself a steak to cook. During mid-pedi I also decided I to go get a much-needed bottle of wine to go with my steak and day off. I happily hopped off my bed to go find a cheap bottle...but forgot my keys.
Shit, I thought. I'm locked out. The day I wanted to lay in bed and enjoy the apartment to myself. I sat on the steps and though, it's ok, my roommates will be home soon.
No, last night was the night they both decided to go out. Crap. I sat on my steps, with a large bottle of wine next to me and no wine opener, annoyingly watching the kids run up and down the street. I was really out of luck. After an hour I started getting chilly and realized I'd be there for quite awhile. So what did I do? Walked down the street to the local bar.
Mind you, I was in sweat shorts and a t-shirt with no makeup on and my hair still damp. I looked liked I just rolled out of bed. Oh well, I thought, I guess I can catch the NBA game on TV.
I walked into the local and there were two older guys sitting at the bar and a bartender I haven't met before. She gave me a strange look and asked if I was 21. I told her my story and asked for a Blue Moon.
I was hoping to strike up an interesting conversation with her or with any of the other guests but no such luck. Her friends came and they huddled around one side of the bar talking about things I didn't feel like putting my two cents in. So I sat there pretending I was intrigued by the basketball game until one of my roommates came home a few hours later.
I learned my lesson. HAVE MY KEYS GLUED TO ME AT ALL TIMES ALONG WITH MY PHONE. Because I can't afford to lose either.
