Flashback: Boston trip in March
This post is really old, but who cares.
In March I got my tax returns and blew it all by going to Boston to see college friends I hadn't seen in forever. I could have saved it, but I don't regret it at all because it was a great weekend.
My friend Emily from Portland was visiting and we got some cheap bus tickets to Boston leaving Friday at 6 am and returning Sunday afternoon. Oh Megabus, that crappy double decker bus that provides awful service but wonderfully cheap tickets.
Of course we went out Thursday night to the Jane Hotel (awesome, by the way) and headed home at 3 am to pack (yes, we hadn't started) and left my apartment at like 4:30 to go right back into Manhattan to catch the bus. We barely made it. We sped walk down the streets of NYC with our bags to the bus as the sun was coming up. Running on no sleep and plenty of tequila. Let's just say I wasn't feeling too well.
The bus was packed. The AC wasn't working. I was out of water. It was the worst bus ride ever. But we made it into Boston around 11:30 and Brittany had mimosas and bacon waiting for me!
Us girls drank mimosas (mimosa without the OJ, please) and ate breakfast sandwiches and breakfast potatoes in the living room of Brittany's Boston apartment. I hadn't slept but that didn't matter, I was so happy to be there. We did a little shopping (it had been so long since I had gone to Target!) before heading back so Britt could make some delicious mac n cheese. Then we headed to a bar down the street for some beers and dart games.
On Saturday we headed to Quincy Market where I swear the most delicious food exists. I had a giant plate of beef brisket, YUM.
We wandered around downtown Boston and the harbor.

Then grabbed some pizza on the way home to glam up for the night. The subway system there is so easy with only a few lines but stops working after midnight (so thankful for NYC's subway) so we had to cab it downtown. Us girls dressed up for a bar/club. Did I mention this weekend had a video game convention in Boston? The bar we went to happened to be the after party so it was FULL of nerdy gamer boys. NO THANKS. We still had a great time though, and our friend picked us up and we stopped at a place called Tasty Burger for some, you guessed it, tasty burgers and beers.
The bus ride back to NYC was so much better. Less packed so I was able to sprawl out, the AC was on, and I slept the entire way back.
Boston, I loved you, but I love NYC more.
Brittany, I miss you like crazy. Come to me!
