You can sleep when you're dead
I've been battling a cold and nasty cough while working 60 hours a week. I always get this cough that lasts for months and gets especially worse at night. Intense coughing fits keep me up and the lack of sleep is of course not allowing me to get better. (I am taking my vitamins though, Mama!)
People at work think I'm hacking up a whole lung and riders on the subway must think I'm having the worst day because I have tears running down my face from coughing. Slightly embarrassing. I'm sucking on cough drops like they're candy.
But don't worry, this hasn't stopped me from anything. On Tuesday I reluctantly pulled my sleep-deprived, sniffly self to work to find that I had to do a phone interview with Cate Blanchett in the afternoon. That, and a hot chocolate bar in the office, definitely woke me up. I eagerly awaited her call in the conference room and reminded myself to hold in my cough as long as possible, I didn't need to be hacking up a lung while chatting with Ms. Blanchett.
She was in LA, and I saw the Beverly Hills Hotel was calling. I took a sip of water and began my interview. We talked about her skincare routine (she's a brand ambassador for SK-II) and how women should take care of their skin in the winter. Then I asked about her holiday gift suggestions. I won't say anything more as you'll be able to read the rest in December. I was able to suppress my cough for a whole 20 minutes, which of course led to another coughing fit as soon as I put the phone down.
Tomorrow I'm going to a private shopping event at my own store for my internship and to see the Angel's holiday gift picks. Then on Tuesday I'm going to a presentation by the makeup artist Pat McGrath to hear about the backstage beauty trends she has created. I'll get a makeover and free food. Being an unpaid intern has its perks!
