Glamorous in rain boots

I felt like a rockstar last night. Exclusive event, car service, free wine, hors d'oeuvres, manicures, and a performance by Tiesto and Nervo. All at a restaurant called Tao. I got a press pass to this event, put on by CoverGirl and Rolling Stone to celebrate the new CoverGirls (Nervo) and proceeds went to Hurricane Sandy relief.

A car picked me up from my internship (Mercedes) and drove me to the event. At first, I felt a little awkward. It was last minute so I was wearing a sweater and animal print pants, rain boots, and my hair up in a high bun. Everyone else was glamorous in sequined tops and high heels and chatting with their friends. I almost tripped twice walking around in my rain boots with a glass of red wine in my hand. I awkwardly stood there, looking for Nervo to interview the two Australian sisters and waiting for the event to start.

But then I found the PR contact who invited me and we began chatting after we found out we both went to Syracuse. Then I grabbed a slider and hit the dance floor. Nervo came on and performed. Two powerful and beautiful women in a male-dominated industry, the Nervo sisters shined up there in their gorgeous blonde hair. Then Tiesto (a DJ for those of you that are unfamiliar with him) came out and rocked the dance floor.

I ended up right in front of the stage. Dancing by myself. In my rain boots. And press pass. And guess what, I didn't care one bit. I loved it. I danced like no one was watching. I have a cold, my head hurts, my throat hurts, I can't stop coughing, but that didn't matter either. Then I had the car drive me home so I never had to endure the blizzard outside. My eyes sparkled. I'm living the NYC dream.
