Sandy is approaching
I'll try to keep you all posted as Sandy reaches NYC. Right now I'm on my bed looking out my window at the trees swaying right and left. The wind is picking up and whistling by my window, I've seen some branches fall, though it's not raining too hard, yet. The wind gusts are up to about 40 mph right now.
Sandy isn't even here yet but I'm following it on Twitter and some parts of NY are seeing some flooding, including Coney Island and Staten Island. Thankfully I'm pretty much smack dab in the middle in Queens and not by any coasts, so I should be okay here. Here's a photo of the evacuation zones and the grey bubble is me.

I'm expecting to lose power but will keep you all posted as much as possible. We have water, candles, food, a flashlight, and each other. Too bad we don't have scrabble to keep us occupied...
