Bring it on, Frankenstorm.
Oh, Sandy. While you may be a bitch I love you at the same time for giving me a hurrication.
It's crazy how much the East coast differs from the West coast. I'm about to experience my first hurricane from the comfort (hopefully) of my own apartment as the city has shut down. The subway system shut down at 7 pm and my work closed at 3:30 so I didn't have to go in for my 2-close shift today. Dubbed the Frankenstorm, it's expected to bring gusts of wind up to 70 mph and 90 mph at the upper floors of skyscrapers (sorry rich people, you're told to seek shelter on the lower floors).
There's a mandatory evacuation for those living in low-lying areas by the coast and stores have been wiped clean of water bottles, peanut butter (priorities), batteries, bread, and candles. My internship is closed for the next two days and while I still have to work from home, I'm also looking so forward to some down time (and cleaning, since my room looks like it was already hit by Sandy).
Is it bad to say that I'm kind of excited? While I have no idea how bad this will be, I'm excited to see a crazy storm that the west coast doesn't get to experience. Yesterday I bought some tall rain boots to prepare for the hurricane in case I had to go to work in the rain. I have movies, wine, and nutella to get me through it also. So bring it on Sandy!
After working 8:30 am-4 pm yesterday then going out with friends to a club (I was amazon woman for Halloween) I was so excited when my work called to tell me not to come in and I got to climb back into my sweats. Now for some Halloween movies with the roommates!
Oh, and I got my NY id! Now this feels official. No more getting denied at the bars for the change of address sticker on my Oregon id.
