Live from a couch, it's broke me
Hello from New York! After much last-minute packing (sorry mom for not finishing up taping those boxes) and last-minute goodbyes, I am here. I took a redeye flight with two suitcases both weighing exactly 50 pounds and a carry-on which I could barely lift. I tried to be smart about my packing, but knowing I would be living out of a suitcase for who knows how long, I packed to the brim.
One very expensive taxi ride and an unlimited ride month metro card later, I have already spent a lot on transportation. I was going to write a post last night but I could barely keep my eyes open after not sleeping on the plane. It's hot and muggy and the subway stops are even more hot and muggy. I'm dripping sweat. It takes so long to get anywhere that three of us missed our apartment appointments yesterday. I will have to get used to the long transportation and figure out how long it'll take me to get to my internship before I start on Monday. If only I was back in college and could roll out of bed 15 minutes before class.
Today I woke up well-rested but found out one of the girls dropped out of the apartment search so now there are three of us looking. I'm not worried (yet) because we're smart and we've been looking all day today for apartments we want to look at next week. I'm learning about the neighborhoods to avoid and what I want in an apartment (no broker fees!). Can I do this? Hopefully. Till then, I'll enjoy this couch and the fan blowing on me.
