Fresh blog, Fresh lips

I'm going to start switching up my blog a bit so it's less This is What Happened on the Crappy Subway Today (because, let's face it, it gets old) and more This is What Makes Me Happy. The purpose of this is not only to educate you and my readers on my favorite things (beauty raves, anyone?) but also for me to continue doing what I want to do and improve my blogging skills.

I'm going to say what everyone is saying: this weather is crap. It's cold, snowy, windy, dreary, and depressing. It seems impossible to look cute or dress to impress with a million and one layers on and skin that looks like a crocodile.

The biggest thing I hate in winter is my chapped lips. What's the point of owning the latest lipstick color when it makes your flaky lips stand out? And who wants to kiss that?

I used to exfoliate my lips at night with a toothbrush before applying a good amount of lip balm but as of recently, that hasn't been doing the trick. I needed something more. On one of my days off I took a trip to Sephora and bought what many beauty editors rave about: Fresh Sugar Lip Polish.

It's made with brown sugar to exfoliate and remove flakes while it conditions and moisturizes with  jojoba seed oil, grapeseed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, and shea butter. I use it morning and night and finish with Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm. Afterwards, my lips feel AMAZING. Plus both products taste and smell good so go ahead and overdose on both. The balm comes in a vintage tin that has lasted me for a long time, I'm surprised I haven't lost it yet. But I'll probably cry and head straight to Sephora when I do.

Now tell me, what are your lip solutions during the cold months?
